I've got some family members with medical issues. This hits... surprisingly close to home. Even if a disability is absolutely 100% not your fault, it's really easy to feel like it is. Especially when it forces the people around you to accommodate you.

It's even worse if it *is* partially your fault. Everyone makes mistakes. If the world was fair, little mistakes would have little consequences; but that's not the way things work. Maybe you forget to bring your bike helmet that one time, or cross the street in just a bit too much of a hurry, or something just as trivial. What Rachel did (not pay attention to her family and goof off) is something that literally every child ever has done, but that's not going to stop her from being hammered with guilt.

While it's not a cure, having the support of friends and family is a huge deal. Shanti seems like a good friend, hopefully having her there will do Rachel a lot of good.
